Odisha’s new Chief Secretary, Anu Garg, formally assumed office on the New Year on Thursday, marking the beginning of her tenure with a series of meetings and consultations aimed at setting administrative priorities. After taking charge at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, she extended New Year greetings to the people of the state and outlined her intent to focus on coordinated governance from the very first day.
As per reports, soon after assuming office, Anu Garg met Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and held initial discussions on key administrative issues. She also interacted with the Health Secretary to review ongoing matters and explore areas where further improvements could be made. A meeting with senior secretaries of various departments is also scheduled as part of her first-day agenda to identify priority projects and assess departmental requirements.
Focus On Coordination & Early Action
Emphasising teamwork and efficiency, the Chief Secretary said the administration would work collectively to introduce new initiatives and ensure effective implementation. She indicated that maximum work would be taken up on the very first day, with particular attention to project prioritisation, expenditure planning and budgetary requirements.
Chief Secretary’s Statement
Speaking after assuming charge, Anu Garg said, “After taking over charge, I first went to Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath for all the citizens of Odisha. I hope that together we will implement many new initiatives. We have already held discussions and met Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.”

She added, “Based on today’s routine, we will take up maximum work from the outset. I have discussed with the Health Secretary on what more can be done and have scheduled meetings with secretaries of various departments. We will deliberate on which projects need the highest priority, focus on expenditure, assess what needs to be added to the budget, and work to strengthen the overall vision.”
