Odisha music director Abhijit Majumdar, who had been on ventilator support at AIIMSBhubaneswar since early September, was taken off the ventilator following slight improvement in his condition on Saturday.
However, reports suggest that his overall recovery remains uncertain as his brain activity has not resumed normal function.
According to medical reports, Majumdar’s health has shown minimal progress. Although his vital organs are functioning normally, his brain activity is still unresponsive and he remains in a coma.
The AIIMS medical team continues to monitor his condition closely and is exploring further treatment options to aid his recovery.
Hospital’s Continuous Efforts
Abhijit Majumdar, who suffers from multiple comorbidities including hypertension, hypothyroidism, and chronic liver disease, was admitted to the AIIMS emergency unit on September 4 in a comatose state and placed on ventilator support.
Following initial treatment, he was diagnosed with Osmotic Demyelination Syndrome (both pontine and extrapontine), Bilateral Pneumonia, Blood Stream Infection (MDRO–Acinetobacter), and severe electrolyte and nutritional deficiencies.
Condition Remains Critical
Despite prolonged medical care, his neurological condition has not shown significant improvement, as stated in the latest medical update on October 11.
While the decision to remove him from ventilator support indicates slight physiological stability, doctors have confirmed that he continues to remain under intensive observation at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
