Abandoned car on Mahanadi bridge sparks search for missing Bhubaneswar youth; probe underway

The car of a missing youth was discovered abandoned on the Mahanadi Bridge near Mundali in Cuttack on Friday, raising suspicion of him jumping into the river.

The missing youth has been identified as Shaktikanta Sahoo, a resident of Nayapalli area in Bhubaneswar, and has been untraceable since Thursday night.

Suspicious Car Found On Bridge

According to reports, locals first noticed the car parked suspiciously on the bridge late on Thursday night and immediately alerted the police. Upon verification of the vehicle’s registration number, authorities discovered that it was registered in Bhubaneswar.

The police subsequently contacted the owner’s family, who confirmed that Shaktikanta had been untraceable since the previous evening.

Search Operation Underway

The circumstances surrounding the youth’s disappearance remain unclear. Officials have not yet ascertained whether he jumped into the Mahanadi or went missing under different circumstances.

Personnel from the Godisahi outpost and the fire services have launched a massive search operation, scouring the area for any trace of the missing youth.

Meanwhile, the discovery has sparked tension among locals and the victim’s family. Reports suggest that authorities have assured that all angles, including the possibility of an accident or foul play, are being thoroughly investigated.
