Berhampur: A 95-year-old man suddenly collapsed and died on Wednesday while he was waiting in a long queue to cast his vote in Kansamari booth of Sanakhemundi Assembly constituency under Aska Lok Sabha segment in the second phase polls.

A native of Kansamari, Natabara Behera died at the polling station No 183 of Sanakhemundi before casting his vote, locals said. Behera, who had gone to the polling booth along with his family members, was immediately brought back home in an auto-rickshaw.

In Odisha, the second phase of the polling is in progress at 5 Lok Sabha constituencies (Bargarh, Sundergarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska) and 35 Assembly constituencies.

During the first two hours of the polling, i.e. till 9 AM, 7 per cent voter turnout has been recorded, informed the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
