6 illegal clinics sealed in Odisha, strict action against unlicensed medical practices

In a major crackdown on unauthorised medical establishments, the district administration on Saturday sealed six illegally operating private clinics in Gunupur town of Rayagada district.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Gunupur Sub-Collector Dudhal Abhishek Dilip, Ramanaguda Tahsildar, in the presence of the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) and officials from the Public Health Department.

According to health officials, these clinics were functioning without valid Clinical Establishment Certificates, a clear violation of state health regulations. Acting on this, inspection teams visited the locations and sealed all six clinics immediately.

The Sub-Collector emphasised that this move is part of a larger drive to ensure patient safety and maintain healthcare standards in the district.

“We urge the public not to trust these illegal clinics. There are government hospitals equipped with qualified doctors — MD, MBBS, BMS and others — who can provide proper treatment,” said Gunupur Sub-Collector Dudhal Abhishek Dilip.

He further added that another inspection team has been deployed to identify and take action against similar unregistered medical setups in other areas.

“Strict measures will continue against all such establishments operating without licenses,” he stated.

The Health Department has also appealed to residents to report any such unauthorised medical practices to local authorities for swift action.
