57 new Sub-registrar offices to begin operations across Odisha from February 5
In a move aimed at improving public access to land registration services, the Odisha government has announced that 57 new Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) will become operational across the state from February 5.
The expansion is expected to bring greater convenience for citizens involved in land purchase, sale, and property registration, while also reducing pressure on existing registration offices that often witness heavy footfall. The initiative forms part of the state government’s broader effort to decentralise services and enhance the efficiency of land and revenue administration.
With the addition of the new offices, the total number of Sub-Registrar Offices in Odisha will increase from 322 to 379, significantly strengthening the state’s registration infrastructure. Officials said the move will be particularly beneficial in rapidly growing urban and semi-urban areas where demand for land-related services has risen sharply.
According to a notification issued by the Revenue Department, the newly established offices will start functioning from February 5. The government expects the step to reduce waiting time, improve service delivery, and bring registration facilities closer to citizens.

Officials further said the expansion will help streamline administrative processes, ensure smoother documentation, and facilitate the timely completion of legal formalities for property buyers and sellers. The initiative is being viewed as a major step towards citizen-friendly governance in the land and revenue sector.
