A massive 286-kg golden bow and arrow, crafted from a blend of gold, silver, iron, copper, and brass, has begun its ceremonial journey from Puri Srikhetra to Ayodhya, drawing thousands of devotees and creating a deep atmosphere of devotion across Odisha.
The 8-foot-long artefact, measuring about 2.5 to 3 feet in height, completed its circumambulation of the Srimandir on Monday before being taken forward in a grand religious procession. Devotees thronged the temple premises from early morning to witness the sacred rituals, while servitors actively participated in the ceremonial proceedings.
Tour Across Odisha Generates Religious Fervour
The sacred bow and arrow began its journey from Rourkela and has since travelled through several parts of Odisha. At every halt, large numbers of devotees gathered for darshan, turning the procession into a moving celebration of faith. The tour has significantly heightened religious enthusiasm across the state.
Officials said the artefact has been designed strictly in accordance with astrological principles, with all five natural elements blended in carefully calculated proportions, adding to its spiritual significance.
Symbol of Craftsmanship and Faith
The bow and arrow reflect a unique fusion of precious metals and traditional craftsmanship, symbolising devotion, artistry, and cultural heritage. Devotees and observers alike have described it as a rare representation of ritual art, rooted deeply in spiritual tradition.

The journey has also highlighted the cultural importance of Srikhetra, attracting pilgrims eager to witness the sacred object before it proceeds to Ayodhya.

Following the completion of rituals at the Srimandir, the ceremonial procession will continue towards Ayodhya. Officials said the event reinforces the spiritual bond between Odisha and the holy city, while also showcasing the state’s rich legacy of ritual craftsmanship.
The ongoing pilgrimage of the golden bow and arrow continues to inspire devotion and reverence, celebrating faith, tradition, and Odisha’s enduring cultural heritage.
