Rourkela: As many 18 persons including two doctors of Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) and six jail inmates have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sundergarh district, informed Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan.

According to Kalyan, out of the total new COVID-19 positive cases, 14 are from quarantine centres, two cases of home quarantine and two local contacts.

“Two doctors of RGH, who were earlier on COVID-19 duty, have tested positive for COVID and the hospital was already sanitised yesterday. Efforts are on for contact tracing and the two doctors have been sent on quarantine,” said Kalyan.

District administration officials informed that the swabs of the doctors were collected after they developed symptoms two to three days back and their reports have come positive.

Kalyan further informed that six inmates of Rourkela special jail have also tested positive for COVID-19.
