At least 11 people fell ill after reportedly consuming contaminated food in Samantiapalli village under Patrapur block of Ganjam district. The incident came to light on Thursday night, triggering tension and concern among local residents.
According to sources, several villagers had gathered at the house of a resident in Samantiapalli for a meal. Shortly after eating the food, many of them started experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain, and dizziness. As their condition deteriorated, the affected individuals were rushed to the Patrapur Community Health Centre for immediate medical attention.
Medical staff at the hospital confirmed that the symptoms indicated possible food poisoning. Among the 11 affected, one person’s condition was reported to be critical. He was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, several others who were undergoing treatment at Patrapur hospital have reportedly been discharged after their condition improved. However, the exact cause of contamination has not yet been officially confirmed.
