Bhubaneswar: The Budget session of the Odisha Assembly will begin as usual from tomorrow with Zero Hour, Question Hour and Adjournment motion unlike previous sessions amid strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro said after chairing an all-party meeting today.

It was decided at the meeting that afternoon session of the House will begin from 4 pm instead of 3 and will continue till 6 pm.

"The House proceedings will begin from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm every day. After lunch break, the House will resume work from 4 pm to 6 pm.  Question hour and Zero hour have been allowed in the budget session this time," Patro said.

The adjournment motion will be of one and a half-hour. During the time, Opposition party will get 55 minutes while rest of the time has been fixed for the treasury bench, he added.

The Speaker further informed that any members of the House including the Chief Minister can take part in the Assembly business through video conference from their respective offices.

The functioning of the House will be made paperless through National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), the Speaker said.

Deputy leader of the Opposition Bishnu Sethi said, "We demanded one and a half-hour adjournment motion and that was fixed. Starred and unstarred questions are allowed in the session."

Armed with several issues including border dispute, deteriorating law and order situation and irregularities in paddy procurement, the Opposition BJP is well prepared to grill the ruling party.

"We will raise deteriorating law and order situation, Mandi problems, border controversies and other issues in the House for discussion," Leader of Opposition Pradipta Nayak said.

On the other hand, BJD vice president and MLA Debi Mishra said, "The ruling party is ready to take part in every subject for discussion. Our leader Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has convened legislature party meeting today to discuss the strategies to face Opposition."
