Bhubaneswar: A youth hailing from Dhenkanal was allegedly thrashed by police personnel inside Aahar Centre near Bhubaneswar Station Bazaar today. A complaint in this regard was filed in Capital Police Station today.

According to sources, the youth reached the Aahar Centre at 1.30 PM but was reportedly denied food. Upon questioning about the unavailability, the employees and police present at the centre allegedly thrashed the youth and his friend.

"I asked for food at the Aahar Centre at 1.30 PM, but the employees said that nothing is available. Another person, who just came in, questioned as to how the food can be unavailable 1.30 PM. As we were looking inside, the employees closed the shutter and called the Police Control Room (PCR). The employees pushed me and later the police personnel thrashed me and the other youth," said the complainant.

"The youth argued with the police personnel. I don't know what happened after that. I have not seen the youths being thrashed by the police," said a security guard at the Aahar Centre.
