Youth’s body found inside water tank in Cuttack apartment

Cuttack: Police today recovered the body of a youth from a water tank atop an apartment in Nima Sahi area under Purighat police limits here. The deceased Dayanidhi Maharana, was identified to be a resident of Jhola Sahi area of the city.

Though the exact reason behind the death is yet to be established, it is being suspected that the youth was hiding in the water tank to evade arrest. Sources said a criminal case was also pending against him at the Purighat police station.

Purighat police, on receiving information, rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post mortem. “The exact reason behind the death can only be ascertained after getting the post mortem,” informed a police official.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the matter to find out whether Maharana was murdered before being disposed in the tank.
