Youth murdered by friends in Ganjam, one detained

Bhanjanagar: A youth was beaten to death allegedly by his friends at Ekalpur village under Badagada police limits in Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district. The deceased has been identified as Sitaram.

According to sources, Sitaram was allegedly attacked by his two friends, Jitu Raut and Jilu Nayak, over suspected past enmity. Sitaram died on the spot.

Locals in the meantime managed to overpower Jitu and handed him over to Badagada police whereas the other accused Jilu managed to flee the spot, said sources.

Though the exact reason behind the murder is still unclear, police have detained Jitu for interrogation.
