Additional DG Satyajit Mohanty, who flagged off the rally, said, “While going to short distances including schools and colleges, people can use bicycle which would help them to lead healthy life and at the same time protect the environment.”

“We should ensure that pollution level does not increase beyond alarming proportion in the State similar to the situation earlier witnessed in New Delhi. This bicycle rally has been organised to create awareness on environment,” said Padmashree Mohanty, a participant in Cuttack.

Piyush Ranjan Rout, a Bhubaneswar-based Urban Planner, stated, “The United Nations decided to observe the World Bicycle Day to give respect to the people who are riding bicycles which are environment friendly and cheap means of transport.”
