Woman, her two children charred to death in Kandhamal

Phulbani: A woman along with her two baby girls were charred to death in a fire mishap at Magarguda village under G Udaygiri police limits in Kandhamal district today.

According to sources, Jhumila Pradhan and her two daughters Rupali aged 9 months and Sonali aged one and a half years were killed in a fire at their residence today morning. On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies. An unnautural death case has been registered in connection with the incident.

The exact cause of fire that led to the deaths is yet to be ascertained.

G Udaygiri SDPO, Jaykrushna Behera said, “While the husband of the woman had gone away to work, the woman is suspected to have set herself and her two kids on fire by pouring kerosene. Till now we have not received any complaints, not even from her family members. A probe is underway and details of the death will known after we receive the post-mortem reports.”
