Keonjhar: A woman escaped an alleged attempt on her life by her husband in Keonjhar. As per reports, the accused Pramod Dehuri tried to kill his wife Pramila by hanging her to a tree on Thursday night.

However, Pramila was saved after the branch of the tree snapped. She was then rescued by a local villager who then admitted her to Anandpur hospital.

The shocking incident has been reported from Naduan village under Ghasipura Police limits. As per reports, Pramila was staying separately following a dispute with her husband Pramod. The couple was blessed with a daughter.

However, Pramod, who was staying with his daughter, recently married to another woman.

On Thursday, Pramod along with his associates brutally assaulted Pramila and hung her on a tree.

"He (Pramod) tried to kill me by strangulating me. He had hung me on the tree and fled the spot. When I regained consciousness, it was completely dark and I found myself on the ground, "said Pramila.

"We have admitted the victim with severe assault injuries on her body. Her condition is now stable and is under medical observation. We are waiting for the X-Ray reports to start further treatment," informed Dr Sapan Dash, Orthopaedic department of Anandpur hospital.

"My daughter's husband always assaulted her by levelling false allegations for which she had left him and was staying with me. Recently, Pramod came to our house and convinced my daughter to return for the sake of their daughter," said victim's mother.

On receiving information, a police team led by inspector-in-charge of Ghasipura Police Station Biranchi Bag reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident. Meanwhile, Pramod is absconding after the incident.
