Woman engaged at CMPFO alleges sexual harassment

Sambalpur: A female staff of the Regional Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPFO) in Sambalpur filed a complaint with Mahila Police alleging sexual harassment by a senior official.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that Regional Commissioner of the CMPFO, Upendra Panda has been sexually harassing her for the last couple of months.

According to the woman, Panda called her to his official chamber and asked her to give him a shoulder massage. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she did not follow his order.

She further alleged that though she brought the matter before the police earlier, no action was taken against him.

Moreover, the woman said that though she apprised her colleagues about the behaviour of the commissioner, they suggested her to keep mum.

At last, the woman approached Mahila police seeking justice.

However, Panda denied the allegations terming it as false and baseless.
