Woman dies after setting herself on fire in Ganjam

Berhampur: A woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire over family feud at Pratappur village under Jagannath Prasad block of Ganjam district late on Monday night.

The woman identified as Sandhya Bisoi was married since 5 years and was mother of a 5-month-old baby boy, informed sources.

It is suspected that Sandhya Bisoi had a quarrel with family members following which she poured kerosene over her and set herself on fire.

On being informed, police reached the spot and rescued Sandhya. Later, she was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her burn injuries.

Meanwhile, Tarasingh Police has started an investigation into the incident.
