Woman, Daughter Killed After Being Hit By Train In Odisha

Jajpur: A woman and her daughter died after being run over by Howrah-Puri Passenger train near Jajpur Road railway station in the district on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Kathi Rana (60) and her daughter Gurubari Rana (34) of Chandama village under Korei police limits.

On being informed by locals, a team of GRP personnel rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

Police have also initiated an investigation into the incident. However, they are yet to ascertain whether Kathi and Gurubari committed suicide or it was an accident.

The deceased were reeling under extreme poverty. Though Gurubari was working in a school, she was unable to meet the requirements of the family, said sources.

Meanwhile, the train driver reportedly submitted a report to the station master claiming that the duo committed suicide.
