Woman constable attacked by landlord’s son succumbs to injuries

Sambalpur: The woman constable, who was attacked by her landlord’s son on September 24 in Sambalpur, succumbed to her injuries yesterday.

The deceased Rashmirekha Dixit, who was undergoing treatment at Burla hospital had sustained severe injury in the attack by the accused identified as Sapan Chakraborty in Ainthapalli area.

Rashmirekha’s sister Gitirekha too was hit on her head during the violent attack.

While Sapan was arrested by the police, Gitirekha had alleged that the former, who is the son of their landlord, had blamed her elder sister of misbehaving with his uncle. She had also alleged that the accused was on some drugs when he started physically assaulting them.
