Woman Poisons Three Children, Two Succumb In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, two siblings died on Sunday after their mother allegedly made all three children consume poison and also drank it herself in an attempt to kill self in Mendhashala under Chandaka Police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

While two children (aged 2 and 3 years both male) died under treatment at Capital hospital, a one-year-old girl child and her mother, Janaki Gagrai, who works as a daily wager, are struggling for life at the medical.

As per reports, the relatives of the woman found the children and their mother wriggling in pain in their house and rushed them to hospital where the two children succumbed.

Janaki's brother-in-law Arjun, who has been staying with her said, "I do not know the reason behind the mishap. I was out for work when some villagers called me over phone and informed me about the incident. I came running and found them like this."

The exact reason of the ghastly incident is still not clear. As per the latest information, Janaki has been shifted to SCB hospital in Cuttack after her health condition deteriorated.
