With 186 New Cases, Odisha’s COVID-19 Tally Nears 4000-Mark
Bhubaneswar: As many as 186 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours in Odisha, taking the State’s tally to 3909. Besides, a 50-year-old male from Ganjam district who was tested positive for COVID-19 and undergoing treatment at hospital died, taking the death toll due to COVID-19 in the State to 11.
As per Health and Family welfare department, “The deceased was suffering from underlying co-morbidities of Diabetes, Hypertension, Chronic Kidney disease and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.”
A highest of 22 COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Kandhamal district, followed by 21 cases from Khurda, 16 each from Kalahandi and Bargarh, 15 in Gajapati and 13 from Mayurbhanj.

Of the total 186 new positive cases, 171 cases were reported from various quarantine centres while remaining 15 cases were detected during contact tracing exercise, informed I & PR department on Sunday.
As per the data released by I & PR department, 13 NDRF, ODRAF and Fire Services personnel who returned to Odisha from cyclone Amphan duty in West Bengal have also tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier, Odisha reported highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases after 225 more people tested positive for the disease on Saturday. Of the fresh cases, 196 were reported from various quarantine centres while 29 others were detected in contact-tracing exercises.
The maximum of 92 new cases were detected in Cuttack district, followed by 20 in Ganjam and 19 in Khurda.
Apart from new positive cases, 120 persons also recuperated from COVID-19 yesterday. Ganjam district reported the highest 33 number of recovered cases followed by Gajapati at 18 and Sonepur reporting 13 recoveries.
