Bhubaneswar: Senior leader Damodar Rout on Wednesday said that the loyalists of former chief minister late Biju Patnaik will soon come up together to form a new party based on the principles and ideologies of the legendary CM to oust the corrupt BJD government in Odisha.

Plans are underway to launch a new regional party soon to eradicate corruption and  ill-governance in the State. The proposed new party will however not form alliance with any political party, Rout said.

"We will hold a discussion on the same on November 9-10 and inform about the decision related to the formation of the party on November 11-12. In the meeting, I will propose to name the party after Biju Babu," said Rout.

The ruling-BJD's works are against the principles of Biju Patnaik as it is crushing the interests of the people and encouraging corruption in the State. And so, discussions to form a new party is on to put things in order, said Rout, adding that he wants former Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda and many other followers of Biju Babu to join the new proposed party but some people in the government are trying to create problem in forming the new party.

Asked who is trying to create the hindrance, Rout said, "Who does it mean by saying government? Of course, it is Pandian... Government means Pandian."

On the probables who would be members of the party, he said, "We want former Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda to join the new proposed party."

Speaking to the media on Rout's hint at formation of a new party, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said that those who are making such big claims must first put it into work (form a new party) and then only the BJD will speak on it. "There's no point in telling anything about it now," Patra added.
