Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Department here has issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for twelve districts of Odisha and advised people in these areas to remain alert till 2:30 PM today.

As per the latest forecast, thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places over Puri, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh and Ganjam districts till 2.30 PM today.

Early in the morning, the Met had issued thunderstorm and heavy rainfall alert for Puri, Bolangir, Nuapada, Angul, Khurda, Cuttack, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Koraput, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh and Malkangiri districts till 10:30 am today.

Two days ago, it had stated that the low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Kalahandi, and Nuapada districts on August 20.

Moreover, the fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea today.
