Weather forecast: Met issues thunderstorm alert for parts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast thunderstorm and rain alert for several places in coastal districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapara in Odisha today.

Some other interior parts of the State like Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Koraput are also likley to witness thunderstorm and rain, said the Met source.

A release from the Met centre stated, thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Balasore from 12.15 to 4.15 pm today afternoon.

Gusty winds with speed reaching up to 40-50km/hr likely to be witnessed during the time.

Under the impact of a trough line developing from Rajasthan to Chhattisgarh, several parts of the State have been witnessing spells of rain and hailstorm since past few days.
