Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre here on Tuesday issued thunderstorm warning for as many as 11 districts of Odisha.

As per the latest weather bulletin, moderate thundershower and lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Angul, Keonjhar and Nuapada.

People in these districts have been advised to remain alert in view of the thunderstorm between till 10:15 AM.

On the other hand, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued heavy rain alert (Orange warning) for several districts of Odisha in view of a low pressure formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-Bangladesh coast.

As per the IMD's yesterday forecast, the low pressure area is associated with the cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above sea level moving in the southwest direction. It is likely to become a well-marked low pressure area in the next 48 (since yesterday) hours.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (Orange warning) is likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Keonjhar, Bolangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nayagarh and Puri tomorrow (August 13), the IMD had said.
