Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued thunderstorm, lightning and intense rainfall warning for eight districts in Odisha.

People in Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Kalahandi and Koraput districts have been asked to remain alert till 8 PM today.

Moreover, the Met department has warned of intense rainfall in the districts as a low pressure system has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas.

Heavy rain has so far adversely affected normal life across the State. Besides, many parts of Odisha experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over West-central Bay of Bengal and southern coast of Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, three persons were killed today after being struck by lightning at different places in Athgarh of Cuttack district.

Similarly, two persons were killed in lightning strike at Oupada block in Balasore district on Saturday.
