Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Southern Odisha are likely to witness heavy rainfall from June 8 as a low pressure system is building up over Bay of Bengal. As per the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, the south-west monsoon is also likely reach Odisha by June 9 or 10.

HR Biswas, Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre stated that already the south-west monsoon has made considerable improvement after reaching Kerela last week and already touched parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

"Several parts of Odisha have witnessed scattered rainfall during the past 24 hours with Jharsuguda district receiving the highest 5 cm rainfall. The low pressure system over Bay of Bengal would trigger heavy rainfall mostly in southern Odisha," said Biswas.

Biswas further stated that at present all the conditions are favourable for the advancement of monsoon in Odisha. The amount of rainfall in the State would increase from June 5 while there is a possibility of thunderstorm in several parts.
