Bhubaneswar: With the temperature already hovering around 10 degree Celcius in several districts, the Indian Meteorological Department has stated that cold wave conditions are likely to intensify further in Odisha.

While the temperature dipped in parts of West Odisha and interior areas of the State yesterday, the Meteorological department predicted that it will continue to plummet in the next 2-3 days. Besides, there is possibility of rainfall in coastal parts of Odisha, informed an official.

"Under the effect of a whirlwind, a few places in south-coastal Odisha and bordering areas of Andhra Pradesh received light rainfall this morning. However, the effect is temporary. While R Udayagiri and Mahendragarh received rainfall of 2mm, Chatrapur, Berhampur and Gopalpur received 1mm rainfall respectively. Rainfall is likely in a few places in south coastal districts," said Laxmidhar Mohapatra, official of Bhubaneswar Regional Met.

"Because of the western disturbance, the State will experience extreme cold wave condition for the next 2-3 days. Cold waves will prevail in Odisha till December 31," he added.
