Mayurbhanj: Shock, fear and sadness had gripped Odisha following the wildfire in Similipal biosphere reserve. However, mother nature finally came to the rescue on Wednesday when it poured the much needed rain in several parts of the forest from light to moderate.

Amid the ongoing battle against the protracted wildfire, the video of a woman forest guard from Pithabata range in Similipal shouting and dancing in joy after ‘rain god’ showered the forest has gone viral on social media.

It is pertinent to mention here that thousands of fire fighters and locals have rushed to the bioreserve to save the rich flora and fauna.

In the video, the lone forest guard could be seen going ecstatic following the showers and thanking the rain God for hearing her prayers.

Nevertheless, the incident underscores the herculean effort put in by the hundreds of forest guards like her to contain the raging inferno that has already consumed a large tracts of the biodiversity in the last fortnight.

The female forest guards dance and joy is perhaps a tribute to the divinity she knows to exist in the wilderness.

The rainfall in the vicinity of Similipal Tiger Reserve for over one and half hours is expected to douse the wildfire in the peripheries of the park and prevent it from further spread.
