Bhubaneswar: Days after the explosion at the petrol pump in the Capital city, videos of the refilling work in progress just prior to the blast at the site have surfaced. Satya Nayak, a native of Ganjam district, who succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the mishap, reportedly shot several videos of the refilling work on the fateful day and sent to his family members.

Tears rolled down the cheeks of the aggrieved family members of Nayak as they watched the videos. "He had sent three to four videos on that day from the site. He was always telling that the work is dangerous, but to earn a livelihood for the family he had to continue with the job. He was supposed to return home the day the mishap occurred," said wife of Nayak.

Alleging lack of safety measures at the petrol pump during the refilling work, she said, "We got afraid after watching the videos he had sent as the work was going on without any safety measures at the site."

The massive explosion took place in an underground CNG tank of a fuel station nearby Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on October 7. At least nine persons were injured in the incident while one of them succumbed to the injuries.

A day after the incident, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) announced an ex-gratia of Rs 8 lakh for the family of those killed in the mishap, Rs 4 lakh for the critically injured and Rs 1 lakh to the injured.
