Keonjhar: Passengers of a bus had a providential escape when a truck overturned partly on the vehicle after plunging some 20-feet below a highway near Shalapada under Anandpur police limits in the district on Friday.

According to reports, the driver of the truck lost control of the high speed vehicle while running on the flyover. Subsequently it slipped down the highway and crash-landed on a bus a bus which was plying on the service road along the highway near the flyover.

Eye-witnesses said a major accident was averted due to the presence of mind of the bus driver who managed to apply brakes on the right time thereby allowing the truck to slip by while nudging the front part of the bus. No causalities have been reported in the accident.

Informed, local police and a rescue team rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operation.

Earlier this week, a bus carrying more than 40 passengers from a marriage party in Sonepur district had overturned injuring as many as 15 people.

another incident on February 8, at least four passengers had been seriously injured after the bus they were travelling in overturned on National Highway-57 near Khuntabandha in the district in the wee hours.
