Watch: Miscreants Snatch Gold Chain From Elderly Woman In Ganjam

Ganjam: Two bike-borne miscreants allegedly targeted an elderly woman and snatched a gold chain from her at Shyamalai Nagar under Hinjilikatu block in the district on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as one Basanti Sahu.

According to reports, the incident occurred when Basanti was walking on her way back home. Two persons on a motorcycle stopped near one of the nearby houses. The person riding pillion approached her and snatched the gold chain. Later, the duo fled the spot.

Upon being informed, Hinjilikatu police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The police are scanning the CCTV footage installed in the nearby house.

“We are hopeful of nabbing the criminals soon,” a police official said.

In another such incident, unidentified miscreants looted a mobile phone shop located at Chandahandiin Nabarangpur district on late Saturday night.

According to sources, the robbers gained entry into the mobile store by breaking the shutter and stole around 30 expensive handsets along with some speakers.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by the shop owner, police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.

The entire incident has been reportedly recorded in the CCTV cameras installed in the store. Police have taken the CCTV footage in its record and have started tracing the robbers.
