Bhadrak: Four buses and an SUV gutted after a major fire broke out at a garage on National Highway-16 near Dahanigadia Chhak here in the district in the early hours of Wednesday.

The bus staff, who were sleeping inside the buses, managed a narrow escape in the incident.
Eyewitnesses said the fire broke at around 4 AM following which they informed the fire brigade.

Later, three teams of fire tenders from Bhadrak Fire Station rushed to the spot and managed to bring the flames under control after three hours of operation.

"We received the information about the fire in the early hours and immediately rushed to the spot with three teams. We have brought the fire under control. However, the operation is still on," informed Harekrushna Mahapatra, leading fireman of Bhadrak Fire Station.

An eyewitness, Chandrasekhar Pati said, "We were passing by when we noticed the flames fast engulfing the vehicles. Then we immediately called upon the fire brigade for assistance. Though major portion of the fire has been brought under control, the operation is underway as the rubbers in the vehicles are still burning."
