Was Puri doctor’s wife killed over husband’s illicit affair with nurse?

Puri: With mystery still shrouding the death of Sujata, wife of railway doctor Sanjeev Sahu posted in Puri, the Police seem to be groping in dark to establish the cause and motive behind the woman’s death even though a few persons were interrogated in connection with the incident today.

Moreover, it is suspected that Sujata was allegedly murdered over an illicit affair between her doctor husband and a nurse.

Corroborating the relationship, an employee at the railway hospital informed that an audio-clip of the conversation between Sujata’s husband Sanjeev and the nurse had also gone viral on social media some two years back. Though the husband of the nurse had lodged a police complaint, the matter was subsequently resolved mutually. However, the incident had allegedly led to differences between Sujata and Sanjeev.

“It is a case of murder. Earlier, there was a dispute between the couple over the nurse some two years back,” said Ravindra Panigrahy, a railway employee.

Sources said police today grilled the nurse, pharmacist and other employees at the hospital. “There was professional relation between Sanjeev and the nurse. Today, police asked about several details including the arrival timings of all the staff,” said Pareshwar Mishra, pharmacist.

Earlier yesterday, Sujata’s body was recovered from her house and it is suspected that she died of excess bleeding as there were several injury marks on her head.

“We are investigating the case taking into account all the aspects,” said Puri city DSP, Prashant Pattnaik.
