Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for seven districts in Odisha. As per the latest weather bulletin, several parts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Bhadrak and Ganjam districts will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Keeping in view the heavy rainfall forecast, an orange warning has been issued by the IMD for these seven districts.

A cyclonic circulation lies over south Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood and under its impact, several Odisha districts will experience enhanced rainfall activity in the next 24 hours, weather experts said.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar has warned of moderate thunderstorm and lightning with moderate to intense spells of rainfall at a few places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Malkangiri , Kandhamal and Bolangir till 6:15 PM today.

Following intense spells of rainfall yesterday and today, Puri recorded 54.6 mm of rainfall, while Bhubaneswar and Balasore received 38 mm and 35.4 mm rainfall, respectively in the past 24 hours.

Officials of the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar informed that light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is also likely to occur in several parts of north and south Odisha in the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, a yellow warning (heavy rainfall) has been issued for several isolated parts in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Gajapati on September 26.
