Kandhamal: "What facilities do we have that we will raise slogans for Naveen Patnaik?"- such a question by a woman in Kandhamal seems to have silenced the hubbub of the ruling-BJD regime over its tall claims of development in the 20-year of governance in Odisha.

Reportedly after organising a Jana Sampark Padyatra at Baliguda in Kandhamal district on October 26, Biju Janata Dal held a party meet in the area amid a gathering of local villagers. However, during the meeting, a woman criticised BJD workers stating that there has been no progress in her ward number 3. Surprisingly, all this has happened in the presence of local BJD MLA and Baliguda NAC Chairman.

"Why should we say 'Naveen Patnaik Zindabad' when we have nothing to be proud of. You (BJD members) all have become leaders only for vested interests. Once you get votes, you forget the people. If BJD leaders do not pay a visit to our ward now, there will be serious repercussions and people would be forced to withdraw their support to the conch symbol. There is no drinking water facility, roads are in terrible condition, we do not have land pattas. Are we not humans? We are tired of the fake promises of the government," rued the woman.

A video showing glimpses of the party meet and the woman's speech has also gone viral on social media platforms.

However speaking to OTV, Chairman of Baliguda NAC, Mamata Behera refuted the woman's accusations. "I don't think she had come to the meeting by herself. Someone might have instigated her to say such things. And only after MLA intervened that several women have complaints, the woman was allowed to speak in the forum. It would be better to pay a visit to their ward."
