Puri: After locals and religious outfits, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has now opposed the introduction of ‘Dhadi Darshan’ (queue system) at Puri Srimandir.

At a presser, president of VHP's Odisha unit, Ajit Patnaik alleged that the new system has hurt the sentiments of the devotees not only in Odisha but also led to resentment among those coming from other parts of the country.

“The irregularities and lapses that came to the fore following the implementation of the queue system in the name of streamlining darshan is certainly condemnable,” said Patnaik.

Patnaik further stated that the authorities of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) should immediately roll back the decision to implement the queue system.

Meanwhile, normalcy is returning to Puri town following violence that was witnessed during the bandh on Wednesday.

The devotees, who are now being allowed to enter the 12th century shrine through Singhadwara, expressed satisfaction over the new reforms implemented in the form of queue system.

The local residents of Puri are being allowed to enter Srimandir through other three gates. There is still resentment among them as they are being allowed after producing identity cards.
