Venue for State-level Independence Day parade likely to change

Bhubaneswar: Breaking away from the tradition, the State government is likely to hold State-level Independence Day parade at a different venue other than the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar this year.

Reportedly, the government has shortlisted three alternate venues - Janata Maidan, Kalinga Stadium and Unit-III Ground for the Independence Day parade. As part of a review on security arrangement and traffic management, a team of senior officials including DGP, State Intelligence Officials and other administrative officials have visited the Unit-III Ground and held discussions.

Sources said a final decision on change of the parade venue will be taken after finalising an alternate place.

Every year the State-level parade on Independence Day and Republic Day is held at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar.
