Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday informed that the State government has sanctioned  Rs 100 crore to Utkal University for opening six  Centres of Excellence.

While addressing the platinum jubilee celebrations, Patnaik today said that Utkal University has always taken the responsibility of leading of fulfilling the State’s educational aspirations by achieving academic excellence. The varsity has been serving the various learning needs of the State and nation, he said.

Patnaik also inaugurated e-Library of Utkal University and laid the foundation stone of RUSA Bhawan during the occasion.

“Teaching and learning is an on-going and evolving process. Management, infrastructure, learning resources and even curriculam are facilitating factors. Improving quality of higher education is top priority and State government has sanctioned Rs 100 crore to Utkal University for opening the six centres of excellence. The university has already received Rs 40 crore in the current academic year and funds have also been provided for the infrastructure development,” said Patnaik.

Patnaik also paid rich tributes to eminent personalities of Odisha including Pandit Nilakanth Das and Godabaris Mishra and Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati and others who visualised the capitalisation of the State’s intellectual resources through this university.

“Youth are the real potential of a nation and their education, knowledge, creativity, innovation abilities and an undaunted spirit to conquer the world will decide the future of the nation,” added Patnaik.
