Bhubaneswar: Urging to address various demands including the postponement of semester exam, students of different colleges affiliated to Utkal University staged a protest on the premises of the institution here on Tuesday.

A group of students reportedly locked the main gate of the university and gheraoed the Vice Chancellor's office to press their demands.

"In other Universities, there are two semester exams every year. However, we are writing three semesters in a year due to which we getting very less time to focus on a subject," alleged one of the students.

A student of Maharishi College of Natural Law claimed that the Utkal University authorities had agreed to look into the matter, but now they seem to be least worried about it.

"Earlier on December 6, the varsity authorities had assured us to postpone the semester exam, but now they are rejecting the earlier claims telling that the next semester exam would be held in April next year. There should be at least a gap of five months between two semester exams, but we are deprived of the privilege," she said.
