Koraput: Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati has urged the Koraput district administration to use the funds in the Biju KBK (BKBK) scheme for the development of neglected areas.

Speaking at the Koraput District Yojana Board meeting on Friday, the senior leader demanded that the funds in the BKBK scheme should be used to provide basic amenities in the under developed areas.

“BKBK Scheme funds should be used judiciously to provide basic facilities like road, electricity and water. It should not be diverted for other projects in semi-urban areas like Lakshmipur and Dasmantpur,” stated Bahinipati.

According to sources, the spending for the allotted Rs 21 crore under the BKBK Scheme has been finalised in the meeting. Similarly a bill worth Rs 1200 crore, which was submitted by different departments, has been approved by the administration.

“The State Government has issued a guideline that Rs 21 crore will be provided under BKBK Scheme for the development of road, electricity and water facilities. We have finalised the budget in the meeting,” informed Koraput Yojana Board Chairman Raghuram Padal.

Meanwhile, Lakshmipur MLA Prabhu Jani and Patangi MLA Pitam Padhi alleged irregularities in the construction of toilets in their areas.

Responding to the allegation of both the MLAs, Koraput Collector Madhusudan Mishra assured that proper investigation will be conducted into the incident if an official complaint is lodged.
