Bhubaneswar: Amidst allegations of politicization of the ongoing lawyers’ strike, a youth was detained in connection with the attack on a few advocates in Cuttack today. The youth identified as Santosh Nimai is alleged to be an active member of the newly-formed Biju Yuva Vahini.

Though Santosh refuted his association with Biju Yuva Vahini, several photographs of him along with several senior BJD leaders that went viral on social media presents a different story altogether.

Several photographs of Santosh with minister Pratap Jena, MPs Anubhav Mohanty and Pratap Deb and MLA Pravat Biswal have now become the talk of the town as earlier the Orissa High Court Bar Association had alleged that some of their members including a woman lawyer were assaulted by goons of Biju Yuva Vahini.

Moreover, they have accused the office bearers of BJD's legal front of creating unrest with assistance from Biju Yuva Vahini.

“I am not a BJD activist,” said Santosh while refuting the allegations brought by some advocates who were allegedly heckled and manhandled during their ongoing cease-work agitation in Cuttack today.

It is pertinent to mention here that rift has surfaced between Orissa High Court Bar Association and BJD's legal front after the latter withdrew support from the ongoing cease-work agitation that has been continuing since August 28 in protest of the assault of a Cuttack-based lawyer by police.

The members of BJD's legal front could not be contacted for comments.

Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty, on the other hand informed that 5 persons including four advocates and a police official sustained injuries during the scuffle between two lawyers’ group today.
