Bhubaneswar: As the country is set to enter Unlock-4 phase for step-by-step opening up post-coronavirus lockdown, Odisha government's fresh guidelines see major relaxations for the month of September.

As per sources, there will be no weekend shutdown in the State in September while night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM has also been lifted. Moreover, there will be no lockdown in non-containment zones without the Centre's approval.

Notably, the Home Ministry in its guidelines issued on August 29 had stated that States/UTs shall not impose any local lockdown (State/ District/ sub-division/City/ village-level) outside the containment zones, without prior consultation with the Central Government.

However, strict lockdown will be implemented in the containment zones till September 30, 2020.

Containment zones shall be demarcated by the District authorities at micro-level after taking into consideration the guidelines of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare with the objective of effectively breaking the chain of transmission.

Containment measures will be strictly enforced in these containment zones and only essential activities will be allowed. Within the containment zones, strict perimeter control shall be maintained and only essential activities allowed, the Centre's guidelines mentioned.

In another development, the government has permitted inter-State and intra-State movement of passenger buses from September 1 (tomorrow). This apart, there shall be no restriction on inter-State and intra-State movement of persons, private vehicles and goods including those for cross land-border trade under Treaties with neighbouring countries. However, no separate permission or e-permit will be required for such movements.
