Bhubaneswar: On the fourth and last  'Shravan Somvar', thousands of kanwariyas thronged Shiva shrines across the State to offer holy water to Lord Shiva.

According to sources, more number of kanwariyas visited the shrines today as compared to last three Mondays in the auspicious month of Shravan. The administrative officials of different temples also ensured that security measures are in place to ensure smooth movement of the devotees.

Especially in Panchlingeswar of Balasore, thousands of kanwariyas were seen making a beeline outside the shrine. Similarly, at the Lingaraj temple here, devotees from different states were seen waiting since the wee hours today to offer holy water.

Meanwhile, a kanwariya identified as Kamalakant Padhi drowned in a pond near Mangala temple in Puri yesterday. The deceased along with his two friends slipped into the pond while fetching water. While two of his friends were rescued, Padhi was declared brought dead by the hospital doctors.
