Bhubaneswar: An invitation card on India Skills East 2018 regional competition tweeted by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday triggered a controversy after mistakes were pointed out in the Odia script of the invite.

A few words in the card were misspelt inviting criticism from the twitterati.

"In the invitation card tweeted by the Union Minister, Odia language has been disgraced to such an extent that any Odia will feel insulted. Since Pradhan is spending more time in Odisha and intervening in matters of other departments, he is left with no time to keep a tab on proceedings of his own department.  He should first concentrate on his oil ministry rather than chasing culture and tradition of the state," said BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra.

As the mistake surfaced, Pradhan pointed out that the mistakes were typo errors.

"I do not need their certificate. Sometimes mistakes creep in and if my tweets had any mistakes, I will try to correct them. But my request to my good friends in the other camp is that they should first request their supremo to at least first speak Jay Jagannath in clear Odia," Pradhan  said.
