Jajpur/Baripada: Amid intensifying heat wave, the reports of suspected sunstroke deaths from different places of the State are increasing day by day. Two death cases from Jajpur and Mayurbhanj were reported today.

As per reports, Natabar Nayak, a resident of Raghunathpur under Sadar Police limits of Jajpur collapsed today allegedly after a heatstroke. Some locals rushed him to a hospital where he passed away.

In a similar incident, Arjun Biswal, a resident of Raipala village under Sarat Police limits of Mayurbhanj district was rushed to Udala hospital by his family members, where the doctors declared him dead. The family members of the deceased alleged that Biswal died after sunstroke.

Earlier yesterday, death of an elderly person was reported from Badatika village under Agalpur block of Bolangir district.

"We have received a death report of an elderly person at Rugudikhal Bazaar of Bolangir who lost his life reportedly due to sunstroke. We have not yet received the report from the Tehsildar and the post-mortem report. According to government's SDRF and NDRF norms, the family members of the deceased will receive compensation," informed Shankarshan Pradhan, District Emergency Officer, Bolangir.
