Angul: Conflict between humans and wild elephants has once again claimed lives of two more persons in Angul district on Thursday. Two villagers of Suleipal area under Kaniha Forest Range of the district were killed after being attacked by wild elephants.

A wild tusker reportedly attacked Debadatta Samal of the village when he had gone to the forest yesterday evening. Some villagers, after hearing his cry for help, went to the spot and rescued him in a critical condition. Though he was rushed to Talcher Hospital for treatment, the doctors declared him brought dead.

Likewise, Sudha Mohanty of the same village also went missing after going to the forest. Sudha's family members who found her body after searching for hours inside the forest have claimed that she had been killed by an elephant.

Forest officials from Kaniha Forest Range and Rengali Police visited the area and have initiated an investigation into both incidents.
