Rourkela: Tension prevailed in Rourkela after two persons were killed in a road mishap on NH-143 near Balughat on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Sambhu Sethi and his son Muna Sethi.

According to reports, Sambhu was a truck driver while his son assisted him as a helper. Both were knocked down by a speeding truck while they were crossing the road after parking their truck.

Following the mishap, irate locals blocked the road demanding compensation for the family members of the deceased and construction of speed breakers to put a check on road accidents that are occuring frequently here.

In another incident, two persons were killed in a road mishap near Raghunathpur railway over bridge under Telkoi police limits in Keonjhar district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Raju Maharana and Hemant Dehuri of Harichandanpur.

Reportedly the duo was travelling on a motorcycle to Ghatagaon when thier vehicle skidded off the road. While Raju died at the spot, Hemant was rushed to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital where he succumbed to injuries this morning.
