Bhadrak/ Sundergarh: At least two persons were killed and 12 persons were critically injured in separate road mishaps in the State late Thursday night.

In the first incident, two persons were killed and another sustained critical injuries after a 108 ambulance they were travelling in met with an accident on Bhadrak- Chandbali road near Ugratara in Bhadrak district late last night.

According to sources, the ambulance carrying a critically-ill patient named Upendra Sahu (50) of Kandagaradi village was on its way to Bhadrak hospital when it veered off the road and rammed into a roadside tree near Ugratara after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

Apart from the patient Sahu, helper of the ambulance Pramod Parida was also killed during the mishap.The relative of the patient identified as Bijay Sahu was critically injured while two others sustained minor injuries.

Critically injured, Bijay was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Police sources said the driver of the ambulance is absconding.

In another incident, at least 10 passengers were injured after a bus travelling to Bhubaneswar from Bonai overturned near Luthuruba on NH-143 in Bonai of Sundergarh district late last night.The injured have been admitted to a local hospital while the driver and helper of the vehicle are reportedly absconding after the accident.
